Attention: Beginning Guitar Players Who Are Frustrated or About to Quit Playing Guitar Forever
"Would You Like Me to Personally Help You Achieve Your Dream of Playing Guitar?"
WARNING... Study by Fender Shows that 90% of Beginning Guitar Players Fail and Quit Playing Within a Year. Here's How You Can Avoid Being Next

When I first met Dave, he was dejected. He’d been playing guitar for close to a year, and he was spinning his wheels and going nowhere.
Dave came to me after a frustrating experience with another teacher and after taking an ineffective guitar class at our local community center.
He bought instructional books, read one guitar magazine after another, watched YouTube videos for hours on end, and signed up for membership sites online. He didn’t know what to do next, but he knew something had to change so he could continue to play and actually enjoy the process.
Dave dreamed of playing the music from his childhood and being able to play the classic riffs and solos by his guitar heroes. He mainly wanted to play for himself for personal fulfillment but he also wanted to be able to play for family and friends and eventually be able to play music with other people.
Once I saw Dave play for a few minutes, it was painfully obvious what was wrong. It turned out that he had a terrible case of “Beginning Guitar Information Overload.”
Every beginner I've taught who had some previous guitar experience had Beginning Guitar Information Overload to some degree—even those who took private lessons or group classes with other teachers. One woman even came down with Beginning Guitar Information Overload after taking a beginning guitar class in college.
Do you also suffer from Beginning Guitar Information Overload? I can almost guarantee that you do.
More on this in a second.
Why Listen to Me About This?

My name is Eric Stone and I'm an author, guitar player, and music educator based in Colorado. I attended the Los Angeles College of Music on a performance scholarship where I earned a certificate in guitar performance. I'm also a former schoolteacher with a master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania and I'm the author of the international best selling book The Beginning Guitar Emergency Survival System.
When I first started teaching beginners many years ago, I used the same tired methods and old books that every other teacher uses. Frankly, my students mostly got lousy results from my teaching back then.
I didn’t think much about why this happened in those days. I just naively assumed that these people were too old to start playing. Or they didn’t have the natural talent needed to play guitar. Or they simply weren’t born with the right skills to play guitar.
After all, I was teaching them all the “right things” that every other teacher did!
When I first moved to Colorado and opened my teaching studio, I assumed that things would be different. After all, I knew more about music and playing guitar from when I went to music school in LA. I was sure that my time at the school would help me do a better job of teaching beginners.
So I continued to teach the same old things using the same tired methods I used before. And my beginner students still got the same lousy results.
I knew I had to do something urgently to improve as a teacher so I wouldn’t have to watch my students struggle and quit. I felt terrible, because I wasn’t helping people achieve their dream of playing guitar.
I heard all the naysayers out there who say that it’s too late to start playing guitar as an adult. I still didn’t want to believe it was true but, once again, I was teaching the “right things” to beginners, and it still wasn’t working out.
I remember the night I hit the wall. It was a cold Colorado winter night, and I just finished another frustrating day of teaching. The day had been filled with ineffective lessons and even more beginners who were destined to quit. I was almost at the point of throwing in the towel and moving on from teaching guitar.
As I tossed and turned in bed that night, I had a strange thought. I wondered, "What if everything I was told about teaching guitar to beginners was wrong? What if the typical approach was actually ineffective and it hurt people's chances of succeeding?"
The next day, I was really excited to get back to my teaching studio and see what I could do. I didn’t know what I’d do differently, but I knew I had the background and skills as a former schoolteacher to figure it out.
I knew I had to figure things out quickly so I could help beginners realize their dream of playing guitar and finally experience the joy of making music.
What I discovered over the next several months shocked me…
What Is Beginning Guitar Information Overload?
Imagine you're building a house. You need to start on the foundation of the house before anything else. The foundation has to be strong, and it has to be able to withstand many things, including severe weather, to make sure the home is safe.
It’s the exact same thing with guitar. You need a strong guitar playing foundation in place to ultimately be successful!
Remember Dave from earlier? When I first met Dave, he frankly couldn't play anything well on the guitar.
Between his ineffective lessons and trying to figure things out on his own, he tried to learn over twenty different guitar concepts in less than a single year. It’s not just Dave who does this; the same thing happens to practically everyone.

As a beginner, you might learn scales, basic melodies, basic songs, open chords, common chord progressions, finger exercises, strumming patterns, a 12 bar blues pattern, blues licks, how to read tablature, power chords, fingerpicking patterns, music theory, arpeggios, chromatic exercises, classic rock riffs, metal riffs, open string licks, country licks, capos, how to read music, metronome exercises, playing by ear, how to solo, and on and on.
To make it even more overwhelming, chances are you'll be thrown into the deep end and get introduced to barre chords before there’s a slight chance you'll be successful at playing them.
Does all this sound like it’s way too much to learn when you’re first starting out? Well, it’s because it is.
I call this phenomenon Beginning Guitar Information Overload, and it happens for a few reasons. One is the typical untrained guitar teacher that has an approach that favors doing too many things at once.
Also, almost all people who attempt to teach themselves try to learn many topics at once. They overwhelm themselves because that's how they were taught to approach learning in school.
If you're trying to teach yourself through random books or YouTube videos, you're usually piecing things together from many different sources while you barely learn anything.
The problem with the this approach for beginners is that nothing is ever mastered on the guitar. Forget about getting to the point where you’re playing things well. Most of the time, nothing is being played at a remotely competent level.
Introducing... The Beginning Guitar Success Triangle
I focus my teaching to beginners on just three simple areas, not a few dozen. As part of my system, my coaching clients go into a tremendous amount of detail in these three areas.
By the time people are finished with my beginning guitar system, they have an unshakable foundation in place. Beginners are able to play music on the guitar that sounds fantastic.
For those who want to play for fun, they have the necessary skills to be able to play their favorite songs with ease, as well as thousands and thousands of other popular songs.
If they want to become an advanced player in a certain style, they will ultimately be successful. That’s because they’ve built their guitar playing house on a strong foundation.

The three sides of the Beginning Guitar Success Triangle are playing chords and chord progressions, rhythm and strumming, and playing songs.
Forget about everything else out there. Throw out all those guitar manuals that are as thick as old telephone books. These are the only three areas to focus on as a beginner.
If you expect to take this information and figure things out by yourself, I’ve got some bad news for you…
Study Shows There’s a 90% Chance You Will Fail and Quit Within a Year!
According to a study by Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, 90% of beginners quit guitar within their first year of playing.
90%!
Think about how many resources for beginning guitar players are available these days…
You have private lessons, books, local music schools with one-on-one lessons and group classes, YouTube videos, online schools, membership sites, cutting-edge apps using the newest technology, guitar-playing video games, and more.
Heck, there are even gizmos that will light up your fretboard to show you exactly where to place your fingers in order to play a song!
With everything that’s available to help beginners play guitar, how can 90% quit in a year or less?
After I read that study from Fender, my mission became urgent. The system that I developed and perfected in my Colorado teaching studio needed to get into the hands of as many people as possible. It became my mission to help frustrated beginning guitar players from around the world.
That's why I wrote my bestselling book The Beginning Guitar Emergency Survival System: How to Eliminate Frustration and Failure, Stop Sabotaging Yourself, and Finally Achieve Your Dream of Playing Guitar.

"I looked through your book and thought that it's actually just the thing for my brother. He started learning guitar until a number of things stopped him in his tracks. This seems like the perfect remedy for him. As a guitar player, I remember hitting walls early on, namely getting over the hill that is barre chords. I had never seen a usable technique for conquering barre chords until The Beginning Guitar Emergency Survival System. It's a simple technique that just makes sense. Also the emphasis on starting with power chords will have you playing actual songs in no time, which is what beginning guitar players need."

Got your book last week, read the whole thing on day 1. Before doing the exercises it was helpful to recognize mistakes I was making--the biggest one being building chords 1 finger at a time rather than putting all down at once. This was really a problem with barre chords where I was inconsistent playing them cleanly in time. I started doing PLLO. Just picked up and played after doing the exercises 4-5 times after a week and the difference was significant. So really liked that part and the idea that just picking up and playing for a few minutes if that's all I have is the way to improve.

With the incredible results people got from reading my book and from investing in my other resources for beginning guitar players, I started getting request after request for personal coaching. For a long time, I said no. It’s not because I don’t love working with people one-on-one (I do) but I wanted to focus on helping as many struggling guitar players as possible.
Well, I’ve got some exciting news for you. Due to overwhelming popular demand and my desire to start working with a small number of people one-on-one again, I’ve decided to start an exclusive coaching program for beginning guitar players.
Who is This For?
I’m looking for a few dream coaching clients for me to personally coach and mentor. If you’re selected, we’ll be meeting together for personal one-on-one coaching sessions online. You’ll be getting the attention and feedback you need from me to help you finally play guitar the way you’ve always dreamed you could.
We'll meet one-on-one online via Zoom and have 45 minute one-on-one weekly coaching sessions for 3 months. These sessions will be automatically recorded and you can refer back to them at any time.
It doesn't matter if you ultimately want to become an advanced player or if you want the skills to be able to play thousands of popular songs for fun. It doesn't matter if you want to play for yourself or with other people. It doesn't matter if you've never picked up a guitar before or if you've struggled and failed for many years. It doesn't even matter if you play acoustic or electric guitar.
You'll get where you want to go with me personally by your side.
Best of all, when you follow my proven system and work with me one-on-one as we go through the Beginning Guitar Success Triangle together, you can get incredible results in as little as 15 minutes per day!
Eric is an excellent teacher and coach. He is patient and focused on providing appropriate steps to increase both skills and confidence on the guitar. As a retired school principal, I have evaluated hundreds of teachers, and Eric displays the talents needed to provide the best for his students.

I've been playing for 6 months, starting from day 1 with Eric. I have enjoyed how he has continually added more music in the style that I like while balancing things with basic rhythm progressions so I can learn fundamentals. He appears to have an affinity for all sorts of music which keeps things interesting.

Eric is very passionate about creating music and teaching music. Whether you are new to the guitar or want to improve or increase your skills, Eric is your guy! He is kind, patient and will strive to help you learn; but most of all you'll have fun!

Eric Stone is certainly an excellent guitar player, but more importantly, he is an excellent teacher. I had been playing a long time before I met Eric and was concerned that he might not get where I was coming from musically or understand what I needed as an experienced student. No worries - Eric spent considerable time exploring my playing, my history, and my goals before talking about a plan for taking my guitar playing to the next level. There was no "one size fits all" in his approach. His education and training as a teacher makes all the difference. Oh, and he can shred.

Judge David Cooke

I have been taking guitar lessons from Eric Stone for only two months, and I have already made tremendous progress. As a former violin player, I have had quite a few different teachers with different styles. I really appreciated how Eric started by asking me about my musical preferences and background so he could cater to my interests and strengths.

Dr. David Chen

I have been playing guitar for 37 years and had many instructors over the years and Eric is by far the best I have worked with. He understands how people learn and knows how to challenge students just beginning or at an advanced level. I have recommended Eric to many of my friends!

Joe Holtz

Eric's instruction is simple and clear, and it allows his student to tackle increasingly challenging techniques in manageable, accessible stages. But what really makes him a great teacher is not his obvious talent as it is his passion for playing and his love of music as a way of life and adventure.
